Resilience Rehabilitation provides clients access to SMART Recovery meetings and communities
Self-Management And Recovery Training (SMART) is a mental health and educational program focused on changing human behavior. This global community of mutual-support groups maintains the objective to empower people and achieve independence from addiction problems through a science-based four-point program.
This organization's approach to behavioral change is built around its 4-Point Program:
Building and maintaining the motivation to change.
Coping with urges to use.
Managing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in an effective way without addictive behaviors.
- Living a balanced, positive, and healthy life.
SMART Recovery helps those suffering from addiction internalize that they may be meeting the basic goals of survival, avoidance of pain and achievement of happiness short-term via their substance abuse, but impairing their ability to meet these goals in the long-term. The approach of identification and modification of beliefs about yourself, your problems, and how to change is a key aspect of this recovery community.
Their meeting format is straightforward and organized. Facilitators are trained to follow the SMART Recovery program and principles to help participants change their behavior. In the meetings it is discouraged to dredge up the past, about which nothing can be done. Something can be done about the present and the future. Meeting discussions focus on how to apply SMART’s tools for change so that individuals can go on to lead a more productive and connected life.
