Matrix Model

The Matrix Model is an evidence based approach to therapeutic treatment used for individuals who are addicted to stimulants. According to the National Institute on drug abuse, the program provides “a framework for engaging stimulant… abusers in treatment and helping them achieve abstinence”.  Therapists creating a positive relationship with the patient by ensuring communication promotes individual's self-esteem and self worth by not being parental nor confrontational. This practice enables clients to feel more positively towards therapists as well as towards themselves. Worksheets and treatment manuals are utilized by both clients and therapists.

Other treatments can be used within the Matrix Model program, at different times and at different stages. Treatments including drug education, family therapy, group therapy, relapse prevention, 12-step programs, early recovery skill groups, and other options which have been proven to be very helpful to a large population of individuals, can be offered in conjunction to benefit Matrix Model practitioners .

The key to the Metric Model is our therapist's creation of a positive relationship with the patient that stays professional but encouraging. This will often motivate individuals to remain in treatment, as they will feel comfortable and at ease with their therapist and want to stay in their care.
